You might be wondering…

How much does Special Touch Home Care pay CDPAP caregivers?

As a Lead Fiscal Intermediary, we understand that when a caregiver is well compensated, they feel more appreciated and provide better care.

Our caregivers have several compensation packages to choose from, because what may be ideal for one caregiver may not be the perfect package for another. Regardless of the option selected, the hourly pay rate is typically at least 6% greater than our competitors. Other benefits include:

  • Paid time off: For every hour you work, you accrue time off. There is no cap on how much paid time off you can accrue – some caregivers have saved over 5 months!
  • Commuter benefit card: This benefit is extremely flexible. It can be used for subways, ferries, buses, Uber pool, and even parking costs. And, because it’s funded by pre-tax contributions, it makes your money go further.
  • Retirement benefits: Our 401A plan helps you save for your retirement, so you’ll be financially secure both now and in the future.

Do caregivers need a special license or certification to care for a loved one?

No. There are no certifications required. You can get started right away.

What does CDPAP stand for?

Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP).

What is a CDPAP fiscal intermediary?

A CDPAP fiscal Intermediary is typically a private company that has a contract with the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to provide and administrate the CDPAP program for you. Fiscal intermediaries like us are regulated by the Department of Health.

Can a spouse be a CDPAP caregiver?

Unfortunately, a spouse cannot be a CDPAP caregiver.

However, children, relatives, and friends may all be caregivers.

Is the CDPAP Program closing?

The CDPAP program is a big success. It serves about 74,000 chronically ill or disabled people, allowing them to choose their caregivers and remain in their homes.

The Department of Health is implementing some changes to make CDPAP more cost-effective, but the program is not closing down.

Special Touch Home Care was awarded a contract in 2021 as a “Lead Fiscal Intermediary,” which means we will continue offering the CDPAP Program to you well into the future.

Does Medicare cover CDPAP?

Unfortunately not. As of now, CDPAP is exclusively a Medicaid benefit. If you’re not sure about your eligibility, our friendly Care Representatives are happy to help you. Please schedule a call with us & we can discuss your options.

Are there any fees to participate?

There are no fees or costs to participate, however you must be enrolled in Medicaid or be Medicaid eligible

Do CDPAP caregivers need to be trained?

No, there are no special training or license requirement to become a CDPAP caregiver.
